What we collect

Tradeyard collects information you provide directly when creating an account: your name, company name, email address, phone number (optional), and state/city. For sellers, we additionally collect listing details including material descriptions, dimensions, pricing, photos, and the provenance information you provide.

When you complete a transaction through Tradeyard, we record transaction metadata — the parties, material grade, price, and confirmation timestamps. This data is used to calculate seller reputation scores and to generate embodied carbon documentation for Verified Contractor members.

We use Stripe to process payments. Tradeyard does not store credit card numbers or payment credentials. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of payment data.

How we use your information

We use your information to: (1) operate the Tradeyard marketplace, including displaying listings, facilitating inquiries, and processing transactions; (2) calculate and maintain seller reputation scores based on verified transaction accuracy; (3) generate embodied carbon documentation for Verified Contractor plan members; (4) send transactional email (inquiry notifications, transaction confirmations, rep score updates); (5) improve the platform through aggregated usage analytics.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your information for advertising outside of Tradeyard.

Seller listing data

Listings on Tradeyard are public by default. The listing title, material description, grade, location (city/state), price, dimensions, quantity, provenance, and seller name are visible to all visitors. Your email address and phone number are never displayed publicly — they are shared with a buyer only when both parties have confirmed an inquiry.

Seller reputation scores are public. Transaction history (material type, grade confirmed/disputed, quantity accuracy) is used to calculate scores but individual transaction details are not publicly disclosed.

Data retention

Active account data is retained for the life of your account. If you close your account, we retain transaction records for 7 years for tax and compliance purposes. Listing data is retained for 3 years after a listing is closed or removed. You may request deletion of personal data that is not subject to these retention requirements by emailing privacy@tradeyard.io.

Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Database access is restricted to authorized Tradeyard infrastructure. We use Stripe's hosted payment forms — your payment data never touches Tradeyard servers.

Despite these measures, no internet transmission is 100% secure. We recommend using a strong, unique password for your Tradeyard account.

Cookies

Tradeyard uses strictly necessary cookies for session management (to keep you logged in). We use no third-party advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies. Stripe may set cookies for fraud prevention purposes on payment pages — see Stripe's cookie policy for details.

Your rights

You may access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time by visiting Settings in your Tradeyard dashboard, or by contacting privacy@tradeyard.io. California residents have rights under CCPA. EU/UK residents have rights under GDPR. We respond to all verifiable data requests within 30 days.
